The interesting part of this passage is verse 11. Here God indicates that the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil changed how Adam thought. I find this interesting because the first thing that was said to those seeking salvation in Acts 2:38 was to repent. The word repent in the Greek literally means to change your mind or change how you think. In essence, when we say to people to repent, we are telling them to change the way they think to think the way God originally wanted them to think.
Worship plays a key part in helping us think like God. When we pour ourselves out in worship, we open ourselves up to Father so that he can impart his thoughts to us by His Spirit. We would consider some of these thoughts inconceivable if he told us directly.
Therefore, for us to be fruitful, Father must put his thoughts deep down inside our hearts and minds. He does this by his Spirit. Eventually we will live out what he put inside of us. As a result, we may not be able to explain how we got to be as fruitful as we are. All we see is the change in our conduct, our character and how we approach life. Others see it too and are pleased at what they see.
Through worship, we give Father permission to impart to us things he wants us to think by his Spirit. Therefore, I encourage you to worship with all you. Do not let anything hold you back from worshipping. Do not let the style of music, the volume of the music, or the way the drums are played hold you back. Do not let the lighting in the building, the people next to you, or the people not next to you hold you back. Do not let pain, sadness, anxiety, or anything else hinder you from worshipping with all your heart.
The more you relinquish yourself in worship, the more permission you give Father to shape your heart and mind to think the way he thinks. As a result, you will see yourself overcoming challenges you thought you would never overcome, you will see yourself accomplishing things you never thought you would accomplish. And most of all you will see yourself obey God in ways that you thought you never could.
